Aftercare & Cleaning Guidelines

Faux Fur Throws, Cushion Covers & Pet Blankets

Due to the characteristics of faux fur fabrics, a small amount of initial fibre shedding may occur. This is normal and can usually be reduced by lightly vacuuming the item upon receipt.

Smaller faux fur items, such as cushion covers and pet blankets, may be washable; however, all faux fur throws are recommended to be dry cleaned only. Faux fur throws require specialist aftercare to restore the pile after cleaning, and larger sizes become extremely heavy when wet, which may cause damage to domestic washing machines.

Where faux fur items are suitable for washing, use the coolest and most delicate machine setting with a medium spin cycle and a mild detergent suitable for delicate fabrics. Items must be dried naturally on a flat surface. Do not tumble dry, iron, or apply direct heat, as this will damage the fibres. Items that are machine washable may also be hand washed. While still damp, gently brush the pile with a soft brush to restore its appearance.

Faux fur products may become creased or compressed during transit. In most cases, this will resolve naturally after the item has been opened out for a few days. For persistent creasing, lay the item flat, cover the affected area with a damp towel for approximately one hour, then gently brush the fibres into place and allow to dry naturally.

We cannot accept responsibility for damage resulting from cleaning or care methods that do not comply with these instructions. Additional care guidance may be provided on individual product pages.

Tartan & Fleece Throws and Fleece Pet Blankets

Tartan and fleece throws and blankets may be machine washed at 30°C using a mild detergent. Due to the fast-drying nature of fleece, natural air drying flat, is recommended to minimise creasing.

If ironing is required, fleece items must be ironed indirectly using a damp cloth on a cool setting. Tartan throws should be ironed on a cool setting on the tartan side only and not on the fleece reverse.

Printed Velvet Throws & Cushion Covers

Printed velvet products are digitally printed on 100% polyester fabric and may be spot cleaned, hand washed, or machine washed on a delicate cycle at a maximum temperature of 30°C, using a mild detergent. Items should be dried naturally only. Do not tumble dry. Cool ironing is permitted if required.

Seat Pads

Seat pads are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use; however, they are not waterproof. In the event of a spillage, the affected area should be sponged immediately using clean warm water and a mild detergent, then left to dry naturally. Seat pads must not be machine washed or dry cleaned.

Cowhide Rugs

Cowhide rugs require minimal maintenance and, when cared for correctly, should provide long-term use. They are not designed for high-traffic areas, as repeated footfall will cause hair loss and may eventually expose the base hide.

Loose hairs can be removed by occasionally taking the rug outside and gently shaking it. Light vacuuming is permissible, taking care around the edges. Cowhides must not be allowed to get wet. In the event of a spill, dab the area immediately with warm water and a mild detergent and allow to dry naturally. Do not wash, dry clean, or use chemical cleaners unless professional guidance has been obtained.

Sheepskin Rugs

Sheepskin rugs should be kept dry wherever possible. If they become wet, they must be allowed to dry naturally. The pile may be maintained by gently brushing with a soft brush or wide-tooth comb.

Dirt or soil should be left to dry before brushing out. Spillages should be treated by dabbing with a damp cloth and mild wool detergent. Dry cleaning is strongly recommended. If machine washing is undertaken, it must be done on a wool cycle at no more than 30°C, using a mild wool detergent. Rugs must be dried flat naturally and brushed gently while damp. Please note that washing may cause the leather backing to stiffen. We cannot accept responsibility for damage resulting from machine washing.

Reindeer Skin Rugs

Reindeer skin rugs should be taken outside occasionally and gently shaken to remove dust. If vacuuming is necessary, it must be done carefully using a brush attachment.

Rugs should not be placed near heat sources such as radiators or fires, as excessive heat may dry the hide and cause the hairs to become brittle. Dry cleaning is strongly recommended. Reindeer hides are not suitable for high-traffic areas and hair loss will occur if walked on regularly.
